This is the story of Chano, a man beset by the misfortunes of a life of crime and corruption. The neighborhood is the stage where he wanders through the streets, invisible, overlooked, and alone. However, it is precisely there, in the pulling away from reality, where apparently there is a space to commune with the moment, and therefore, with a certain luminous gaze. An unfortunate event awakens Chano’s protective instincts, throwing him back into a life of crime and appalling violence where he is driven by his compassion for a past relationship. However, his actions result in him sinking even further down. Awakening Dust is a film that reflects on the causes of violence even as it withholds judgment, giving a voice to the main characters in the world of crime at the fringes of Mexico City: the same community from the “2 de octubre” encampment are the ones who will bring the characters to life in this fictional story that overcomes the limits of reality.
